Tenom-Keningau-Tambunan Trip (19-20 August 2012) - Part 3

Yea, what a wonderful morning to spend at the cathedral. With the nice readings, hymns, the people, the surrounding and so and so! But.... At least I feel much better after coming back from the church.

Time to continue the last part. So basically the last part is more about the trip to Tambunan and the way back to Kota Kinabalu. Oya, saw the following two pictures? They are actually fresh and smoked wild boar meat selling at the roadside of Keningau-Tambunan road. If you stand nearer and look at it, you can still see blood dripping from the fresh meat. Haha. So my friends just dropped by and bought 2kg back, then we continue our journey to Tambunan town.

Salai = smoked; Basah = fresh

The driving to Tambunan took us about 1 hour and we were too hungry, so we had our lunch at Tambunan. But the problem was we can barely see any shops open except this Tambunan Restaurant.

Tambunan town

Brinjal curry with meat rice, RM 7.00. Not too bad but they just need to update the price in the menu only...

Without any further delay, we proceeded to Mahua Waterfall which is almost 45 minutes driving journey. The distance was about 12-15km from Tambunan town. Driving to this destination was not that difficult because the signboards are really useful to show you the way.

 The pond to welcome you

Read the rules before you start trekking into the jungle for the waterfall

"See me" is one of the marking along the trail!

Here you go! The waterfall with freaking cold water!!! =)

Just a group picture before we leave.. "Welcome to Mahua Waterfall"!!

After leaving that place, we wanted to see Rafflesia at the Rafflesia Information Center while on the way back to Penampang road. But the center was not open, maybe it was because there wasn't any Rafflesia at the moment, so continued our journey to Kipandi Butterfly Park. It was not just a normal butterfly part, but you can also get various kinds of plants over there.

Welcome to Kipandi Butterfly Farm

Where you can get your souvenirs and even an umbrella for the whole journey.

Butterfly Garden

Insect Museum

Shhh.. They are actually mating

Lava to breed new buterfly

Periuk Kera.. Pitcher plant in English.. Something very unique in Malaysia

So that's the end of my journey to Tenom-Keningau-Tambunan. Overall, it was really a new experience for us as we really have no chance to have this kind of experience if we sit in the city forever. Just bear in mind that learning other's culture is also important to make you a better person.

Enjoy and have a nice weekend.

Tenom-Keningau-Tambunan Trip (19-20 August 2012) - Part 2

After leaving Tenom town after lunch, we dropped by at the Murut Cultural Center to deepen our knowledge about the locals. It was opened from outside but it was not functioning inside. We paid for the entrance fee at the counter but we didn't enjoy anything when we were there. Thus, we have no chance to have the real feel about the culture. Quite disappointed after paying the RM5.

The entrance to the village, hopefully you didn't miss this when you are travelling along the Keningau- Tenom road. It was about 15 km from Tenom town.

The activities going on. Basically, we paid RM 5 for a very simple gallery show-case. Nothing else!

After checking in to the hotel at Keningau, we made our way back to Crocker Range Park to enjoy the aerial view of Keningau town before it gets dark. It was about 15 km from Keningau town as well. Basically, 30 minutes driving will do! It is a very nice and cooling place. Our initial plan was to stay there but too bad that it was fully booked! Price ranging from RM30-60 per person only!

Just a picture at Crocker Range Park

Ok, it was about 6pm already and the sky was getting dark. So we decided to make another trip up again the next day! So we headed back to Keningau town for dinner before going back to the hotel to rest. Keningau is actually quiet a big town as compared to Tenom and Tambunan. Though there is no cinema, but there is mini shopping malls, bars and so on! If you want to have a peaceful life, I think there is a good option.. Moreover, it is just about 2-3 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu. =)

 Fruits for the day

Keningau BAH!!!

Dinner at Keningau. You can easily get Chinese food around town because most locals are Chinese but make sure that it's not too late because the shops might close early..

The next day.........

Breakfast at Keningau and head back to Crocker Range Park after that

2 km Crocker Trail into the jungle. Hopefully you can get Rafflesia when you are in the jungle.

So-called DONE with the whole trail

Information center at GATE 2. Weather recorded was 14.5!

Mini gallery at the Information Center

Observatory tower at Crocker Range Park!

Bye-bye to Keningau town

So we left Keningau town after that and head towards Tambunan for waterfall!

To be continue....

Tenom-Keningau-Tambunan Trip (19-20 August 2012) - Part 1

AHHHHHHHH!! I am done with another station. Two more to go and I will be a free man! lolzz

When I looked back some of the pictures, I just realise that I haven't blog something more about Sabah. Gosh. I guess I am having more stuff to do now.. Ha-ha. Anyway, let me finish with my latest trip to the inner part of Sabah now. When you look thro the whole Sabah map, it is just too big to discover if you are on a 10 days trip. But you are here for most of the time, it's just the right time to discover something which you can hardly get from other places.

So during the Raya break, we have almost 4 days of holiday but we spent 2 days for travels. Our first destination was Tenom. It was about 2-3 hours away from Kota Kinabalu if you are travelling by car with an average speed of 80-100km/hour. The fastest route is via the Kimanis route which you will go pass the Crocker Range.

Crocker Range, travel via Papar town

Look at how steep the road was!

Then here comes the misty part of Kimanis route...

And this was our first destination, Agricultural Park Sabah. It was about 12-15km away from Tenom town, average about 30 minutes of driving...

Make sure you have a map with you! It will definitely come in handy....

The orchard part, you can get many types of fruit at here. But too bad that we came at the wrong time as it was not the season.

Ciku still hanging on the tree

You can even stay here if you want! But very limited place to stay as there were two units only, i guess...

The lake at the park

Observatory tower to view the whole park, too bad you can't see the Tenom town

If you are adventurous and resistant to the sun enough, you can walk around the animal park as well. Ok, now let the pictures do the "talking" part because most of it are self-explainable. =)

Right after the tour around the park, it's time for lunch! But as we were late to reach back the town, we have to have KFC for lunch! Luckily there is still KFC =P

Part of the Tenom town

And here is the famous Tenom coffee! Try a cup of its coffee if you have the chance.

To be continued.....
